LR 250, Bj. 1978 Fg.-Nr. *00192#

As mentioned in paragraph about my LR 410: my first Kramer restoration a LR 250 based on a 1978 frame. Tank front fender and engine are coming from my 1982 ER (GS model) which is still waiting restoration. Because the order of WP rear shocks took very long (10 weeks), I had to opt for Hagons (which are not only 25mm too short, but too soft as well) from my trials bike for season opening 2005 to be able to start in Laubus-Eschbach at the Hessen-Cup. The first race I had already missed because of the lead time.<br>The fixing holes of the side panles are sitting a little bit different so I had to take the red ones from my 1979 LR 250 (*00327#) instead of the orange ones of the GS.

In winter 2005/06 I really worked a lot on the machine, e.g. got new fenders from US which are optically the same as Preston Petty parts from the seventies (and match colour of side panels as well). The first Kramer models in 1976/77 were equipped with these fenders thus it is more or less authentic.
The White Power dampers with long travel were already mounted for a while and an adequate Marzocchi fork which I have built from several ones as - like with my forks - very often the axle support was broken, if someone tightened the screws to fast.
The alloy petrol tank is coming from a LR 125 (frame number *77001#) which came to my collection in the meantime. Even with dents I didn't dare using it for racing.

Optically very nice, even though not fitting to the manufactoring year of the frame (front and rear petrol tank mounting were changed with replacement of alloy tanks), but ergonomically for me the most convenient is the now used 1978/79 GRP tank (lower version). On this material at least the self made stickers stay on. At the Acerbis tanks from end 1979 fuel is vapouring through the palstic and dissolves the adhesive. Therefore nearly none of these tanks still has its original stickers.
The picture by the way was taken after first training of 2066 season in Laubus-Eschbach.
